My story

Less than two years ago I was made redundant.

It was the best thing that ever happened to me. The end of 23 years pouring my energy into other people’s dreams.

Before I got fired (let’s call it what it was) I was stressed and miserable. My family were paying the price. My friends could see how unhappy I was. But I was too afraid to make a change. Then the thing we’re all supposed to fear happened. And more than anything else, I felt enormous relief.

I’d been too weak to make the call.

But I was pushed, and instead of free falling, I was free.

Then a wonderful thing happened. A colleague came to me and asked me to start a business with her. In the end, that’s not the route I took. But her faith in me was the spark that lit my faith in myself.

I realised I didn’t have to take another job. I could build my own dream.

After writing website content for businesses for 14 years and working in business development for creative agencies for 20 + years I knew a thing or two about getting attention and making sales. So I decided to specialise in what I knew, growing business for consultancies using website content and content marketing.

I started my own copywriting consultancy right at the beginning of the Covid-19 global pandemic. It was a bit hairy. Not gonna lie. But it’s going really well. In year two I hit six figures. I’ve an 88% close rate on proposals. And I never do cold calls.

This isn’t because I’m a uber entrepreneur … I’ve never run my own business before. My success is because I know how to create content that attracts the right people and grows trust. And I can help you create a website that does this too.

I’m a year into freelance life, helping consultants pimp their websites to be bad ass new business machines and create content that’s their best salesperson. I promised to share what I learn as I go. Partly as a resource, partly as a record.
